Chairman of Constituent Assembly (CA) Subas Nembang has said that voting on amendment proposals for the constitution will be held today.

He said that the voting, which was to start on Friday last week,  was postponed for two days at the request of the major political parties. "The voting process will begin after discussions and speeches by senior leaders," he said.

According to Nembang, after senior leaders address the CA, the President of the Constitution Drafting Committee Krishna Prasad Sitaula will answer questions regarding the draft constitution.

He said that any agreements made before the CA's meeting at 11:30 AM can be incorporated into the amendment proposals. "If both the drafting process and the talks go forward simultaneously, amendments can be made even after the constitution is promulgated," he said.

He also said retracting from the constitution-drafting process would now be impossible.
