Amid ongoing nationwide protests by doctors, in support of Govinda KC’s hunger strike, Education Minister Madhav Poudel told officials to cancel the appointment of Sashi Sharma as dean of Tribhuwan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH).
Handing over a four-point instruction paper to Tribhuwan University's vice chancellor on Sunday, Minister Poudel also revealed that his instructions not to accept the resignation of erstwhile Dean Prakash Sayami was not obeyed.
Poudel's latest instructions came after pressure mounted on the government to do what it can to save KC's life.
KC has been on hunger strike for the past seven days demanding reform and end of political intervention in medical sector. In support of KC’s move, Nepal Medical Association has closed down all hospitals, except their emergency services, since Saturday.
