A community building has been recently constructed in Simpani, Bhalamchaur in nothern Lamjung. The road from Simpani to Ghalegaun has also been repaired.
These projects were not funded by the government or any international donor agency. The money came from the local Annapurna Women Group, which runs a community vegetable farming. Twenty-five women from the group saved their monthly savings and income from the farming for the constructions.
"We want to set an example that it is not necessary to wait on donors for development, " says Luku Kumari, chair person of the group. "The villagers can be proactive and contribute to develop their area on their own."
