Cadres of the ruling party UML aligned Youth Association Nepal, Morang chapter, enforced a banda in Biratnagar , demanding the withdrawal of case against Parshuram Basnet.
The Morang District Court has issued arrest warrant to Basnet on the charge of abducting and making attempts to murder Biratnagar-based journalist Khilanath Dhakal on 5 June. The police had filed abduction and murder case in the district court against YAN, Morang Vice-chairperson Parshuram Basnet and his close aides Rohit Koirala and Manoj Rai of the same organisation after a FIR was registered by the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Morang chapter.
Koirala and Rai, who were arrested from court premises, have been sent to judicial custody while the mastermind of the incident Basnet, currently absconding, was issued warrant to be available in the court within 70 days.
